<Monday, November 1, 2004> Music Monthly has moved! Our new address is 2807 Goodwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21214.

<Monday, October 4, 2004> Due to a last-minute printing error, the end of Susie Mudd's October "Dear Readers" column was cut off. Here is the text that should have run at the end: " I am proud to tell you that Bens Bones have announced that their debut CD, Wishful Thinking has just been released nationwide. Congratulations are also in order because Bens Bones won the Icehouse Battle to Rock The Boat, which means they’ll be rocking in the Caribbean in a few weeks... Have fun, boys....
I just heard that J.Paris have signed an indie deal....Rumor has it that Tommy Hate are in the studio with Mike Smith, formerly of Limp Bizkit.... O’Donel Levy has a new CD out, but that’s all I am going to tell you. I had to freaking buy it!
I was sorry to hear that Another Lincoln are calling it quits. Time for them to move on to something else... Also heard Green Machine is history--bummer!
Thanks for everything (and for not coming to our 20th Anniversary Celebration--it was your loss!) And please do not drink and drive!"

<Monday, September 20, 2004> Thanks to all who came out to the Funkbox yesterday to help Music Monthly celebrate its 20th Anniversary! Look for pictures of the event online soon!

<Wednesday, July 14, 2004> Congratulations to Baltimore's Devon Loizeaux, who was just named as one of three finalists in the Pantene Pr-Voice music competition. Devon's song, "Depends on the Day", was picked out of 3,000 total entries. Go to www.pro-voice.com before July 25 to cast your vote for Devon.

<Monday, June 13, 2004> Condolences to the families and friends of Jeff Reid (SR-71) and Tim Alexander (Group Therapy), who both recently passed away.

<Thursday, May 20, 2004> Our very own Godhead has just returned from a headlining tour in Europe and will now join Orgy to tour in the United States. Everyplace they went in Europe, the audiences went crazy. Godhead is currently signed to Reality Records. Look for Godhead with Orgy all over the country for the next couple of months.

<Tuesday, April 6, 2004> Congratulations to Asheru, Kevin Brown, and Critically Acclaimed, who are featured in Urb Magazine's 10th Annual "Next 100" issue. Look for the new issue, with TV On The Radio, on newsstands now!

Nick was one of thousands nationwide who had entered the contest. "It was kinda crazy, I just sent in my stuff not even thinking I had a chance and two hours later I get a call from Everfine telling me
I'm there man." The Performance was taped last Friday, March 19 and will air on MTV soon. Stay tuned for more details!

GOOD CHARLOTTE Q&A FROM HFSTIVAL 2003

Lead singer Joel Madden and bassist Billy Martin took the initiative at their press conference, asking the press how they were doing. Some answers to media questions revealed: Joel’s favorite GC song is “The Story of My Old Man,” one of Billy’s is “My Bloody Valentine”; Joel: “Every show has a really cool rock ‘n’ roll moment whether it’s for 300 kids or 300,000”; GC flew in from Denver to play the HFStival, after their show they left for Boston.

Music Monthly: Where did all those plaques and trophies in your new video, “The Young and the Hopeless” come from?

Joel: We just basically went out and found them in thrift stores, Salvation Army, and places like that. They were all real awards.

MM: Did you come to the HFStival before you started played it?

Joel: I started coming to the HFStival when I was 15. This is our fifth year of playing it. All together, I’ve probably been to ten of them.

MM: What bands did you go to hear?

Joel: Green Day.

Billy: Bands that I remember seeing are Silver Chair, Rage Against the Machine. Pretty much every year one of our favorite bands have played the HFStival. Green Day was pretty memorable, when they lit the drum kit on fire. That was pretty awesome.

Joel: Rage was awesome.

MM: Is living the rock ‘n’ roll dream what you thought it would be?

Joel: In a lot of ways, everything and more. And then in some ways, you know, it’s not what you thought it would be. But there’s never a moment when you can really complain because if the worst of your problems are those kind of problems like traveling and being tired, you know? I was tired when I was working at Target or wherever else I was working, so I don’t mind being tired, and I love what we do, so we have a great time.

MM: You’ve played benefits for kids. Are there other social issues you care about?

Joel: A lot of things, plenty of social causes. There’s a group in DC called Positive Force that we work with. We actually just did a benefit with them that was really awesome. It’s positiveforcedc.org, if you’re interested, check it out. They work with homeless people and others in DC. There are things I get involved with, like different AIDS organizations, kids with AIDS, stuff like that. We’ve done a lot of stuff. Anything we can do.

MM: Did you have any teachers who inspired you?

Billy: Not musically or anything - I pretty much went through school never liking teachers – but I did have one in the 7th grade, a guy named Mr. Jones. He was just a good teacher.Joel: I had a teacher in high school [La Plata], 10th grade, whose name was Ms. Warren. She was just really cool. I got horrible grades in her class, but she really understood me. She didn’t make me feel like I was stupid.
